General Objectives of the Project
To provide opportunities for training, employment, and income to low-income university students, with priority given to Black women from different regions of Brazil. Participants will receive a stipend for the workshop and an internship grant for the production of the book.
To give visibility to and disseminate, among the general public, stories of innovative initiatives that encourage reading in peripheral regions of Brazil.

Daniela Arbex
Voted Brazil's best investigative reporter by the Troféu Imprensa. An award-winning author of six books. Her debut work,*Holocausto Brasileiro*, was recently
named the 10th most important
non-fiction book of the
21st century. She also published
*Cova 312*—winner of the Jabuti Award in the narrative non-fiction category (2016)—and *Todo Dia a Mesma Noite* (2018), about the Kiss Nightclub fire. She is also
the author of *Os Dois Mundos de Isabel* and *Arrastados*.
In 2024, she released *Longe do Ninho*, which won the 2025 Jabuti
Award in the narrative
non-fiction category.

Jéssica Moreira
A journalist, writer, poet, and screenwriter, she is included in the list of the 50 Most Admired Black Journalists in the Brazilian Press (2023, 2024, and 2025 editions). She holds a postgraduate degree in audiovisual content from FAAP and is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in dramaturgy at the Célia Helena Center for Arts and Education. She has worked as a content producer and writer at TV Globo for three years and writes the "Morte Sem Tabu" column for Folha de S.Paulo. She is the founder of the media outlet Nós, mulheres da periferia. She is the author of *VÃO: trens, marretas e outras histórias* (Patuá, 2021).

Elena Wesley
She holds a degree in Social Communication, a Master’s in Communication and Data Culture, and postgraduate qualifications in Integrated and Digital Communication and Strategic Content Management. As a journalist, she has experience in reporting and editing, communications consulting, and training projects. Since 2012, she has dedicated herself to initiatives aimed at securing the rights of traditional and marginalized communities. She is the communications coordinator at data_labe (located in the Maré favela complex in Rio de Janeiro) and the manager of Agência Narra.

Simone Freire
A resident of Cidade Tiradentes, São Paulo, she is a journalist who researches communication through the lenses of race, territory, and diversity. She has served as an editor and journalism coordinator at *Brasil de Fato*, an editor at the *Alma Preta* portal, and local journalism coordinator at *Agência Énois*, in addition to being a member of the *Rede Jornalistas das Periferias* and *Território da Notícia* networks.

Cristiane Yamazato
A journalist and editor, she spent ten years at *Recreio* magazine (Editora Abril), launching various picture book authors who have become benchmarks in the publishing industry. She also managed the children’s and young adult literature catalogs for publishers Ática and Scipione for five years. More recently, she helped build the catalog for PeraBook Editora, bringing together renowned and award-winning writers and illustrators.
Paulo Talarico
A journalist and historian, he is a co-founder and the Director of Training and Data at Agência Mural de Jornalismo das Periferias.
He leads Clube Mural,
the agency’s local journalism and media literacy laboratory.
He is currently pursuing
a master’s degree in
Education: History, Politics, and Society at PUC-SP and holds a master’s degree in Data Journalism, Automation, and Data Storytelling from Insper.

Emerson Couto
A journalist and writer, he is a storyteller by passion. He has published five books,
spanning both fiction and
non-fiction. He brings
30 years of experience working in major media newsrooms, in communications consulting, and in crafting narratives for social transformation. He is a specialist in strategic communications management. In 2021, he co-foundedthe Instituto
Repartir with Luciana Alvarez.
